It was the late 1990s, and life in Ukraine was difficult. The economy was in shambles, and jobs were scarce. So when our founders Aleksander and Sergey heard that there were opportunities in America, they packed up their families and moved to Colorado.

They didn’t know a word of English but were determined to make a new life for themselves. They got hired as tile installers, and after years of experience installing tile, they decided to start a company.

When Expert Touch Tiling opened its doors in 2006, the two-person team consisted of only the owner and his close friend. With a shared passion for perfection and a dedication to customer satisfaction, they quickly gained a reputation in Denver for their flawless tile and surfacing work.

Over the years, word of mouth has been the team’s most significant asset; as more and more people heard about the high quality of their work, business began to grow. Today, Expert Touch Tiling employs a dozen skilled installers and continues to be one of Denver’s premier tiling teams.

It was a tough time for the construction industry. Sales had dropped drastically, and the company was barely scraping by. The company took a business loan to open its first office and warehouse, but with the housing market crash, that investment quickly became a liability.

“With the crisis, our sales dropped drastically, with staff shrinking to only two installers, and a significant portion of our income would go to pay for the business loans and space rental”, recalls the founder. It was touch-and-go at times, but they managed to make it through. In the end, they learned some valuable lessons and became stronger.

With warehouse space being empty of tile but with a signed two-year lease agreement, they decided to use it as storage for items collected for the orphanages in Ukraine.” Our clients and business partners donated used and new clothing items, which we shipped to Ukrainian orphans. We continued using warehouse space for this reason until the end of the lease contract “.

Sergey relates that they prayed and worked hard, took on any projects they could find, and finally paid off the banks in 2012 without filing for bankruptcy.

With God’s help, they overcame all hardships and challenges. In 2013, even more opportunities opened up than they ever thought possible. “Within the last few years, our staff grew to 18 installers, and our combined tile installing experience amounts to more than 200 years of expertise.”, the founder shares.
